On this wooded peninsula between Golfe-Juan and the Baie des Anges, three addresses sum up a century of princely retreat: Eilenroc, Ch\u00e2teau de la Cro\u00eb, and Le Proven\u00e7al.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A peninsula apart<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From the late 19th century, Cap d&#8217;Antibes attracted an aristocratic and wealthy clientele drawn to its umbrella pines, rocky coves, and discretion, away from the bustle of Cannes or Nice. Great American and European industrial fortunes had properties built here to match their ambitions, in a style blending Italian, neoclassical, and Mediterranean influences.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What still stands out today is scarcity: the Cap has only a limited number of very large seafront properties, almost all shielded by estates spanning several hectares. This land constraint, more than anything else, explains why these addresses have never lost their value.<\/p>\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Villa Eilenroc<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Built in 1867 by architect Charles Garnier, the man behind the Paris Opera, for Hugh-Hope Loudon, Eilenroc owes its name to an anagram of his wife&#8217;s first name, Corn\u00e9lie. The villa occupies the very tip of the Cap, on an estate of over ten hectares planted with century-old olive trees and French-style gardens. The Duke and Duchess of Windsor lived there after Edward VIII&#8217;s abdication; Aristotle Onassis and later King Farouk of Egypt would follow as tenants or owners.
